In this Gi class, we work technique while helping to build strength and endurance as you progress up the BJJ Belt system. You will be earning belts at different levels as you learn the elements of Jiu Jitsu. This includes self defense, self discipline and respect with a variety of techniques combined with cardio and strength training drills. You'll have a fun and exciting gi workout while being taught by our professional fighters as you learn new techniques while working toward your black belt.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art and combat sport system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves or another against a bigger, stronger, heavier assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations.Sparring (commonly referred to as "rolling" within the BJJ community) and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through its ranking system.
