Teixeira MMA & Fitness is owned and operated by professional Mixed Martial Artist / UFC Light Heavyweight fighter Glover Teixeira & his wife Ingrid. Glover Teixeira does NOT have a partnership with any other gym. "Teixeira MMA & Fitness LLC", formerly known as "Glover Teixeira MMA Training Center", opened its doors in Danbury Connecticut in 2014. This Danbury location originally served as a private Professional MMA Training Camp for Glover as he prepared for his upcoming fights. They soon decided to open the doors to share their facility with other professional fighters and athletes for their MMA Training Camps, then later with non-fighters as well, which led them to eventually rename the facility "Teixeira MMA & Fitness".
In December of 2018, Glover and Ingrid relocated their MMA Training Camp from its original location in Danbury to its new larger facility located at 32 Stony Hill Road in Bethel Connecticut. This move to a larger facility allowed them to be able to offer more to people and have the space to provide for the community.
Glover is originally from Sobrália, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He has been fighting professionally since 2002. He is ranked #3 fighter in the world in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has also competed in the WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting), Impact FC, PFC, Shooto and numerous Jiu Jitsu and grappling tournaments over the years. He currently holds a 7th Degree Black Belt in Hawaiian Kempo, a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, a Vale Tudo Luta Livre Black Belt under Marco Ruas of Ruas Vale Tudo and 2nd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is Level I CrossFit Certified. FUN FACTS: Glover Teixeira co-starred in the second season opening episode of the MMA reality television series TapouT. Since 2012 Teixeira has been included annually as an athlete in the Topps collector cards UFC editions. Teixeira was featured on the cover of "Train Hard Fight Easy" magazine in January of 2013. Teixeira was made into a Limited Edition Action Figure in the UFC Ultimate Collector Round 5 Collectors Series 14.5 released in 2013. Teixeira is a featured fighter in the EA Sports UFC video game which was released in 2014, EA Sports UFC 2 video game which was released in March of 2016 and EA Sports UFC 3 video game which was released in February of 2018.

We offer classes for different age ranges: "Lil Dragons Hawaiian Kempo" for ages 3-6 and "Kids Hawaiian Kempo" for ages 7-11 and another "Kids Hawaiian Kempo" for ages 12-15. In these classes, students will be continuing to earn belts at different levels as they learn the elements of Hawaiian Kempo. This includes self defense, self discipline and respect. Students will do a variety of bag work combined with cardio and strength training drills and techniques. The kids have a fun and exciting workout while getting in shape and working toward their black belt.
About Hawaiian Kempo
Hawaiian Kempo (a.k.a. Kajukenbo) blends kenpo, karate, judo, jiu-jitsu, boxing and wrestling. The system was developed by John Hackleman, founder & owner of The Pit Martial Arts in Arroyo Grande, CA where he teaches fighters to apply Hawaiian Kempo in the ring. The Pit places a heavy emphasis on The Pit's specialty strength and conditioning program. In order to add more time for a fitness-oriented curriculum aimed at producing well-conditioned athletes, training katas were eliminated from the original KaJuKenBo formula. Practicality and usability are emphasized in the areas of striking and grappling. Bag training is emphasized both standing and on the ground. It is a no holds barred fighting system of offensive and defensive methods, putting equal emphasis on striking with hands and feet, immobilization and controlling the opponent, as well as projections & takedowns. Glover is a 5th degree Black Belt under John.
In this Gi class, students age 7 to 15 work technique while helping to build strength and endurance as they progess up the BJJ youth Belt system. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport system that focuses on grappling with particular emphasis on ground fighting. It is founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint locks & chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ promotes physical fitness, builds character & is a way of life.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan judo ground fighting (newaza) fundamentals that were taught by a number of individuals including Takeo Yano, Mitsuyo Maeda, Soshihiro Satake and Isao Okano. Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own combat sport through the experiments, practices, and adaptation of judo and jujutsu.
BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations. Sparring (commonly referred to as "rolling" within the BJJ community) and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through its ranking system.

In this Belted class, students will learn the fundamental elements of Hawaiian Kempo. Students earn belts at levels based on their knowledge of the curriculum. The techniques you will learn include kickboxing and boxing. This class incorporates technique with conditioning in order for students to progress toward their Black Belt. This is a great class for anyone who is serious and who is looking to start their journey in Mixed Martial Arts.
"ADULT HAWAIIAN KEMPO - LEVEL 2"
In this class, students will learn the advanced elements of Hawaiian Kempo. It is recommended that students continue to this class from Level 1 after the fundamental techniques have been mastered. Students continue to earn belts at higher levels based on their knowledge of the curriculum. The techniques you will learn include kickboxing, boxing, grappling, wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. This class incorporates technique with conditioning in order for students to progress toward their Black Belt. Sparring with full protective gear occurs once a week under the supervision of Glover himself. Muay Thai or Thai boxing is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Muay Thai became widespread internationally in the 20th century, when practitioners from Thailand began competing in kickboxing, mixed rules matches, as well as matches under Muay Thai rules around the world. Teixeira MMA & Fitness summer camp is simply amazing! Each camp program is uniquely designed to keep your children moving and active. North American Grappling Association (NAGA)
We're a NAGA accredited school and our students may choose to engage in NAGA tournaments through us. Test your skills, gain experience and confidence, while practicing positive behavior with the possibility of earning medals.
Most professional MMA fighters in the UFC, Bellator and other MMA promotions join a professional fight camp or training gym to help them prepare for fights. At our facility, spotting a film crew or a familiar face in the world of Mixed Martial Arts is perfectly normal. Many fighters train here, hold their Professional MMA Training Camps here, they work here, and they come for a visit to our facility. Fighters train together, learn each other's skill sets, share techniques and support each other. Occasionally film crews come here to record & interview the fighters to provide footage for commercials, videos, shows or upcoming pre-fight promotions. We currently have fighters competing in the UFC, LFA, Bellator, M-1 Global and PFL MMA.

Do you need gloves, wraps, gi's, shin guards, mouth guards, t-shirts or anything else?
No problem. We have almost everything available for purchase at our gym.
Don't forget to visit our online shop too!!
Occasionally, we might need to close the gym for a day due to inclement weather, a major holiday or an upcoming fight that we may need to attend. We post all closings on our social media as necessary, so please follow our social media to stay informed of any closings.

Arrive on time & SIGN IN using the IPad at the front desk upon arrival.

Shoes are NOT allowed on the mats at any time.
Have sneakers to wear while using the equipment.
To prevent injury, no jewelry, watches, or buckles should be worn while training.
If injured, notify the instructor prior to the start of class.
Finger and toenails are to be kept trimmed to a reasonable length to prevent injury.
Food, gum, & misc drinks are prohibited; however water is allowed & encouraged.
Discard your empty plastic water bottles into the designated recycle bins.
Children: please no running in the building.
Throw away all garbage & don't leave used tape on the floor, on the mats or on equipment.
Always put away borrowed gloves, pads & other gym equipment when done using them.
Don't leave your personal items, wraps, pads, gloves or valuables laying around.
We are not responsible for lost or stolen items and/or equipment.
Parents are prohibited from coaching their children during class.
No Pets Allowed - we're glad you love your pets, but please leave them home.
Don't store your belongings at the gym, take everything with you when you leave.
Please do not leave young children unattended that are not participating in a class.
Help to keep it clean and safe – especially the restrooms after use.
Notify a staff member immediately of spills or slippery surfaces so it can be cleaned.
Be courteous & encourage each other - training isn't always easy & we don't judge anyone here.
Support each other, but leave the technique up to the instructors - they are professionals.
Consistency is king, the more you train, the more you'll love it and payoff is tenfold.
What you learn here, is not to be used on the streets, keep it on the mats.
